Setup stops responding while installing devices

I'm attempting to upgrade windows 2k to xp and it gets to
a point while installing windows the progress bar show
that it is installing devices and that it will take 35
minutes and that is far as it goes. I cannot seem to get
past this point. Any suggestions on how I can find out
what device is causing the problem?

Remove all non-essential third party devices and let the install finish from
there, then install the devices one at a time until you have the machine
bootable.
