keyboard stops responding during windows install

I am in the Installing devices section of the Windows GUI install for XP home
and get a Hardware Installation window that asks me to select YES or NO, but
my keyboard does not respond any more. The keyboard does respond during the
BIOS loading. How do I get around this problem? Thanks

Peter, USB is turned on in the bios, I tried it with the standard keyboard
also, but with the same result.
