Windows installation problem....

Upgrading from Me to XP Professional...
Windows XP Setup Stops Responding (Hangs) During the
Finalization Installation Phase with 23 minutes
remaining, num lock on the keyboard still works(turns on
and off)meaning it's not hardware? If I reboot, it goes
through the installation and stops at the same spot. I
even removed the modem adapter and sound card. Can anyone
help?

Where does it stop? I had a problem with my DVD drive reading the XP disc.
I switched to an old 8X CD-drive and was able to install, then replace the DVD Drive.
Or it could be a bad disc.
If it always stops at the same place, I'd look at swapping either the disc, or drive.

The CD didn't fix it...found out that the customer loaded
a full version of XP Pro not an upgrade so as to upgrade
from Me to XP Pro...seems like the installation should of
caught that and stated this not an upgrade CD. So I
reloaded Me back on PC to retrieve the data files and
then I'll format the drive and reload XP Pro clean on the
drive then bring the files back to XP.
