Setup hangs at 34 minutes

I am trying to install Windows XP Professional and all
goes well until "Installing Devices" at 34 minutes
remaining, then it hangs.
I waited 2.5 hours but it didn't continue.
I have searched the KBase and found an article...
Windows XP Setup Stops Responding on a Sony VAIO PGC-
FXA Portable Computer with 34 Minutes of Setup Time
Remaining
However this is not a Sony nor a laptop.

If it's of any use, I'd remove as much hardware in your PC as possible prior
to installation. This might give you a clue as to what is failing. Then
after install, you can add it back.

What is the make of the computer, and did you check for a bios update before
running the setup? Follow the advice @drian gave you to remove all non
essential hardware, then continue setup. If setup completes, add the
hardware back one piece at a time until you find the problem.
DO NOT activate until you have completed the install of all your hardware
and set the XP firewall before connecting to the internet so you can
download or install saved critical updates.
