i have a copy of win xp pro that recently started acting very slow so i
decided to do a reinstall because that can usually clean it up.

i built the computer myself and i installed windows perfectly on my original
install but now on the reinstall it is hanging at 34 minutes

i have followed the KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828267 but without
any effect.

does anyone have any other ideas that i could try

any thoughts would be appeciated

PS i heard somthing about a key shortcut that skiped that part of the
installation; does anyone know what that is.

Thanks in advance

As KB article stated try to remove all extra cards like sound and modem
except graphic card. Also remove USB devices too. Then if possible work with
only one stick ram and move it another slot on motherboard.

Unplug all external devices. If it still fails, run a complete memory
diagnostic. Intermittent memory failures is a primary cause of hangs on
repair installs.
