I just bought a used laptop that came without any operating system.
Apparently at one time it ran windows 2000. I formatted the HD and then
attempted to install windows XP pro (student edition). When in the setup
sequence after a minute or so, an error message popped up and it said:
"The signature for Windows XP Professional setup is invalid. The error code
is 80096001.
A system-level error occured while verifying trust.

Fatal Error:
Setup Failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The
setup log files shouild contain more information."
Does anybody know if there is a simple explination for solving this? Or
will I have to buy a new hard drive?
