setting up windows mail please help!!

i can't send or recieve mail using windows mail. i've tried finding out pop3
and imap but not sure wha that is or how to work it. i went to add accounts
and followed that procedure to no avail. Can someone help me!? i;m using
windows vista home premium if that helps any.

Who is providing your email account?
You need to check with them as to their server name.

It is likely that you are paying good money to an Internet Service Provider
for email facilities. The least you should expect is for them to provide
some assistance in using the service. Either read the documentation
they provide, consult their web site or harass their technical support
into providing the essential details such as server names.

If you are not up to consulting them, tell us who they are and
someone will hold your hand and either guide you through the
copious simple help facilities built into Vista and Windows Mail,e
