setting up my mail account

My new laptop with Vista willnot allow me to send emails through my hotmail
account. I've tried to set up the Windows Mail by going to Tools, Account,
set new account and it asks me who my "incoming email server type",
"incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server" and "outgoing email server (SMTP)
name". This is way over my head, how/where do I get the answers to these
questions.

Vista Windows Mail is not compatible with free Hotmail accounts. Several
alternatives are available. If you want to continue to use your Hotmail
account, you could upgrade to pop3-enabled Hotmail Plus for $19.95 a year.
Once you have done that, go to Hotmail Help Central and enter "pop3" in the
search box. You could download the free Windows Live Mail, which is
compatible with free Hotmail accounts. You could switch to free Gmail,
which is compatible with Windows Mail...

If you have the free Hotmail account (not Plus), then you can't use Windows
Mail.
Use the newer Windows Live Mail

All POP3 and IMAP accounts can be accessed with Windows Mail.
The newer Windows Live Mail can also access Hotmail/Live accounts.

Your email account provider will have the required settings on their
website.
