Setting Up Remote Desktop Connection

T

Tim Murphy

I am running Windows XP Pro on both my (non-networked)
desktop at work and desktop at home. Both computers
connect to the Internet by DSL (one ameritech.net and the
other comcast.net). I have attempted to set up a remote
desktop connection. Both computers are enabled by default.

When I attempt the connection, I receive an error message
stating "The specified remote computer could not be
found. Verify that you have typed the right computer name
or IP address, and then try connecting again". Do I need
to insert my IP address when the dialog box for making
the connection appears?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes, use the public IP assigned by your ISP. If your behind any personal firewall open TCP Port
3389.
