When trying to update my SP3, it won't do a full installation as it says the
PROPLUS.MSI is missing for frontpage, and won't complete the installation.
How do I fix this problem. I do not have a copy of the XP CD as it was
loaded straight onto my PC, so can't search for it on that, any advice. I
know from other websites lots of people are having the same problems

Hi

Is this for MS Office?

If so, you may like to post to one of the Office News Groups:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.office.setup or

How are you trying to install SP3? From a CD or from a download?
If you downloaded from MS site, did you chose to download the version where
you don't need to have the CD?

Exactly what are you trying to do? There is no SP3 for Windows XP; SP2 is
the latest.

Where is the option to tell that i don't have the CD because i am having the
same problem when downloading Sp3 for Office Xp from Windows Updates

there isn't; you need to have the CD or the path to the network install
location.

it was an automatic update, i'm not even sure what frontpage is and how
imprtant it is, but what concerns me is when its doing its update its half
way through then won't go any further, I am then wondering if there are other
essential bits still to be updated which is being stoppped

there is no option saying to load the cd, when i have been on other help
websites that if the advice people are giving saying the file should be on
the cd

no thats not true, there is now a sp3, my pc is set for automated updates,
which is what it is trying to do, apparently microsoft are trying to update
it to sp3 now, or it is on mine anyway, i didn't search for it, its trying to
do it automatically

Which version of Microsoft Office do you use ? Check the Add/Remove
programs listing in Control Panel to get it's identifier.
As a companion to Microsoft Update there is Office Update. You should
run the scanner to see what/how many updates are available for your Office
instance.

**Click the Check for Updates on the Top, Right-Side of the page.

You might want to post to the office update newsgroup. Here is a link to
it, as well as a list of MS public newsgroups.

You are misunderstanding. There is no SP3 for the Windows XP operating
system. There is an SP3 for one of the Office suites. They are different.
That's why I recommended you post to the Office Update newsgroup. Your
issues is with an office update, not with the XP OS.

I can assure you that it *is* true. There is no SP3 for Windows XP.

If automatic Updates is trying to upgrade you to SP3, it's SP3 for some
other product--probably foe whatever version of Microsoft *Office* you have.

Here's the solution from Microsoft:

Locate missing .msi files

Click on the link titled "I don't have the installation CD" for more info.
