Service Pack 1 installation question

I'm trying to install SP1 from the CD-ROM that comes with the Inside Out
book. I did this once successfully, but lost it when I had to do a System
Restore to get rid of something I couldn't get rid of otherwise. This time
around, Wizard was interrupted with an error box, "Could not verify the
integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is
running on the computer."

On advice from Inside Out book, went to command prompt, typed
"services.msc," got screen, & there was (amid lots of others) Cryptographic
Services. Its status was given as "started," but clicked "Restart the
service" anyway. Got box saying "Windows is attempting to..." restart, I
suppose, but box vanished before I could read it. I guess it's restarted.
Status still said "started."

Went back & tried to install SP1 again. Got the same error box & couldn't
get past this point.

Didn't have this problem the last time around. Any idea what's going on?
Is the CD-ROM corrupt? Or am I just doing something dumb?

Hi Tom,

Open Windows Explorer to C:\Windows\system32, right-click/rename the
catroot2 folder to catold. Then retry the SP1 installation. When finished,
there will be a new catroot2 folder and you can safely delete the old
renamed one.

Worked perfectly. Thanks.
