Sending Pictures

Andrew

I am unable to send picture attachments through outlook or
outlook express. All other attachment are OK and this is
a recent problem as I used to be able to send them OK.
The only system change I have made is a new internal modem.
The pictures are saved as JPEG files approx 90KB in size.

Hope someone can help find a solution for me as my ISP and
Microsoft seem unable to help.

What happens when you send them ? Is the entire message stopped or is it
stripped of the JPG file ? Some ISP's have a problem with JPEG's., but never
heard of one with JPG's unless they are too large (approaching 1 MB) Who is
your ISP ? Any chance you have Zone Alarm or something that is blocking
these ? Althou usually the problem is receiving them and not sending them.
What about it you zip them ? Maybe your ISP does not like JPG's for some
reason and a Zip might work.

I'm having a similar problem. We (ISP) thought it might
be spyware/adware related. Problem: when i send the pic
the send/receive status will start numerous simulteneous
tasks for the send - all stay in 'processing' for several
minutes then error out (or I cancel). tested sending to
one of my other accounts - different isp - and it
receives multiple emails and i can open & view the pic
ok - others can't open the pic.
Hope to find an answer soon-

Thank you for your reply, When I click send the
send/receive progress box appears and after about 30
seconds an failed error appears telling me my SMTP Server
is not responding and do I want to rty again in 60 seconds.
The message remains in the outbox.
I have never had this problem before with sending JPEG
files.

I tries as you said to zip the picture but had the same
problems/

Tedd, After reading Andrew's response my symptoms are
not quite the same. My ISP is Charter and they said I
should contact Microsoft Support because they couldn't
help me any further. Sending and receiving the 1+M jpg is
not a problem for Charter (not blocked or restricted by
size, etc.) It seems to be Outlook running on this
machine. I can successfully send 1M jpg and 5M tif files
from my work account (Exchange server but I haven't been
able to determine what version they are running).

If you can help, excellent - otherwise can you send me
another name, number or website to continue my research?
My next step is to rebuild.

OS: XP Home, SP-2 with updates current
Office XP Professional Version 10.0.4330.0
Outlook 2002 SP-2

Here's sequence of events.
1. create email and attach 1M jpg file
2. send
3. send/receive status will initially show
processing. Then it will show multiple tasks for the
same account - also in the processing status. They
eventually error out. First error says timed out,
remaining errors are ubiquitous 'unknown'.
4. unless I cancel, new tasks will continue to start
and error out.
5. It appears that if I cancel a task the recipient
will receive the email and attachment - multiple times
(appears to be for 1 email for each task I cancel).

I'm at a loss - it almost seems like the response back to
outlook that the send is complete never occurs so it
keeps trying to send.
