I know this problem is redundant but I guess every computer has different
settings.....but I can not send e-mails from my new computer using this
e-mail program. This is the error that I recieve.....

-- The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Thank you for any guidance you can give.

To correct problem I did the following: under Windows Mail window go to
"Options" then go to "Send" then go to "News Sending Format" and select
"Plain Text Settings" under "Message Format check "Uuencode" box and hit
OK - try sending a test email but use "alt.test" or you will get bombarded
with strange messages from customers asking you to use alt. test good
luck.

Sorry, news sending format has nothing to do with sending mail.
You are confusing email with sending a post to a newsgroup.

Your settings are correct.
That type of problem is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Thank you for the reply and information. My AntiVirus is Kaspersky and I
disabled the email scan. I still am not able to send an email. Here is the
error message that I received this go around....

-- The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Hello', Account:
'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

This message is similar except for one word.....protocol as opposed to
server. Do you suggest anything else? I wonder if it is the outgoing server
name?
Thanks!!!

All your account settings are correct. Your error message is the same as before.

You have two options:
1. Uninstall your antivirus, then test Windows Mail again. Presumably
you can always reinstall the antivirus if there is no difference.
or
2. Upgrade to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad
effects from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
