Send/receive - getting two copies of the mail from a mail account

When I execute Receive function in Outlook express, why is it that I get two
copies of the mail into my outlook express inbox from a mail account?

I have this problem is I sent mail to a Distribution List (DL) on which I am
a member. When a recipient does a Reply-to-All, the mail comes both as the
Sender and as a memebr of the DL.
