SECURITY UPDATES ALL LIST

When I go to my add/delete programs, it lists over 2 dozen "security
updates for Windows" and "hotfixes". It just keeps adding and adding
whenever the computer updates.
I don't have this on my other computer, just this laptop. Does anyone have
any ideas why this is and how to stop it from happening? I want to keep my
laptop as clutter free as possible since it is just an "extra" computer when
my husband hogs the desktop.

When you open add/remove programs there is a box at the top that says 'Show
updates'. Uncheck it and they won't show.

Open Add Remove Programs.
At the top is the box to check "Show updates".
If you uncheck the box, you will not see the updates.

If I recall correctly, that box was not available until either Service Pack
1 or 2 was installed.
Does the computer have SP-2 installed?

Okay, I don't want to sound dumb, but I am not finding the "show updates"
box. I have read the link you sent, but didn't understand what to deletel
I guess at this point I don't have to worry about space, but just would like
them not to show up in the control panel. Thanks.

I found it and the radio button next to do not show hidden files is checked,
but they still show up.

This is a used computer I got for Christmas. I think it has sp2, but not
sure; How do I check?
When I open add/;remove, there is nothing that shows "show updates". I
feel really stupid now

Why? A wise man once said that there are no stupid questions, only
stupid answers! No one, not even an expert can be expected to know
everything about computers. I was interested in your question!

Incidentally, some of the answers you were given were answering the
wrong question.

Cheers,

Click on `start` , click on `control panel` , click on `add/remove
programs` - at the top of the list place a check in the box `show
updates `

Yes, you probably should install SP-2.
Either order SP-2 on CD or download the Network Installation, both options
are shown on Step 1 on this link:

Okay, I looked on my other computer, a desktop computer and on that one I
have sp2 along with the little box on the add/remove to check.
On this laptop, it has sp1 and there is no little box on the add/remove.
Should I download sp2? Is it necessary? It came on my other computer I
think.
I should add I have XP PRO, not home
So I guess with sp1 there is no way to hide the security fixes and
hotfixes.
I guess I can live with it then.
