Security fixes saved

When I go to my add/delete programs, it lists over 2 dozen "security
updates for Windows" and "hotfixes".
I don't have this on my other computer, just this laptop. Does anyone have
any ideas why this is and how to stop it from happening? I want to keep my
laptop as clutter free as possible since it is just an "extra" computer when
my husband hogs the desktop.

The 'Security Updates' are most likely on your other PC also unless you have
not used Windows Update on the other PC.
Most likely you have the checkbox named 'Show updates' (located at the top
of the Add/Remove programs) checked.
If you do not want these displayed (none of the updated will be removed,
they just will not be included in the listing) just un-check the Show
updates box.

You should go to http://update.microsoft.com/ and get the rest of the
security updates for Windows, but watch out. Microsoft will force the
download of IE7 on you if you don't review the download list first.
Personally, I didn't like IE7 when they snuck it by me. By the way, I
have 106 updates/hotfixes on this just over two year old Compaq laptop
running XP Home.

Why'd you repost this 4 days after the first one?

(I like the beta groups.google.com - easier to read to me...)
