I am not running MSN messenger as I have uninstalled it. Yet when I go to WU
it tells me I also need to install this new security patch. Should I do it
anyway???????

If you have truly uninstalled it in its entirety, then it may be safe to do
without.
But if you have any of it remaining, you should install the patch.
It is not always relevant if it is used as much as if the files are there.

Why is it still detecting it? I mean I unsintall it through the Windows
Components from Add/Remove menu, yet WU Still sees remnants?????
How is this possible?

Apparently enough is still there.
I do not know exactly what Add/Remove Programs removes, but not all.

In any case it is generally a good idea to install all Critical Updates.
Only pick and choose among the Recommended Updates based on your
configuration and needs.

You can't install it from Add/Remove. It only removes it from the start
menu. It's a hidden installation.
