-windows xp home sp2-
I have been to a few sites that say that say: "you either have JavaScript
turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player is needed to view
their video & things. I click to get the newer version of macromedia flash
(8 in my case)-instantly, it says that it was installed sucessfully. but it
never installed.
The security info bar that Microsoft should display about the active X,
never appears. this has happened before on other sites and will now ask for
help-Sorry, i may not have gone to the right NG but, I figured that the info
bar of the active X thing might be what is the problem-
any ideas

If I remember right, there is an uninstall application of somekind on the MM
site. Try doing that, and then reinstall it from the site.
See if that helps. Good luck...

Check Add/Remove Programs for Macromedia Flash Player 8 - if there, remove

Check: C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\Shockwave Flash Object, if there,
right click and chose Remove

Problem solved!!!- First I tried to manuallly uninstall with add/remove
programs and in downloaded program files- then went to reinstall it and it
did NOT do the job.
Then I did exactly what Larry M. suggested and go to their site for the
uninstaller. then reinstalled it. and that did the trick- So whatever was
the problem, its ow solved.. Thanks to all who helped and gave me things to
try. Did not need to call the 1-800 # but it may come in handy at another
time- Thanks again
