Windows Xp Pro SP2
What's wrong with Windows Help and Support ( from the Start Menu )
I went to Help and Support and did a search for 'clean up shortcuts'.
The Search Results revealed, 16 results found for clean up.
Directly beneath this was, Suggested Topics ( 0 results )
What I want to know is why it states that 16 results were found for clean up
yet it says' Suggested Topics ( 0 results )'.
Is this another MS stuff up?

Click "Microsoft Knowledge Base (15) results", or "Full-text Search
Matches (1 Results). Then click the individual article links to display.

Elmo,
I went to the "Microsoft Knowledge Base but couldn' find what I wanted.
I am trying to find out if I can safely delete Internet shortcuts and how to
do it.
It seems that every time I go to a forum I collect a Internet Shortcut for the
site.
Each one is preceded by the Internet icon;
An example for one of them is; under 'Name' it has AumHa (aumha.net) and
under, 'In Folder' it has, aumha.net (aumha.net) , there is nothing listed
under the heading, 'Size, Type and Date Modified'.
I want to know if they can be deleted with safety.
If they can, I can only delete them one at a time.
As I have a large number of them, one at a time would take for ever.
If I highlight more than one and try to delete I get this message:
"Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk."

When the game is over, the King and the pawn share the same box.

An IE shortcut is placed on the Desktop. I think you're referring to
bookmarks or Favorites. How do you get to where they're displayed? Is
it a folder, an IE option, or something else? If you're referring to
the links in the Address bar, click Tools, Internet Options, Clear
History button.

In what folder are these located? They seem to be a cache of recently
visited sites for a news reader or browser.

Elmo,
On the Search page under 'In Folder' nothing was listed.
-------
Something went wrong when I started my computer
It said something about Time and day settings being incorrect for AVG (anti
virus) settings
My computer clock also had the wrong date. The year shown was 2002
I amended the PC clock to the correct time and date then restarted.
At the start a screen that I've never seen before was displayed
A large Icon on it reads ' Core Cell ', and small text that read , 'Core
Cell Extreme Chip'
I then re started but this screen still came up.
I then did a System Restore to 2 days back.
I re started again, but it still happened.
Any idea what caused this to happen?
My system appears to be working OK.
I also scanned for a virus, it was clear.
After all this I did another search for the Internet shortcuts but they've
disappeared

Your cmos battery, located on the motherboard is dead. It looks like a
large watch battery, about the size of a quarter. There's probably a
spring clip to hold it in. Since the battery didn't keep the correct
time, it also didn't keep the bios settings and that's why the BIOS is
presenting the splash screen. After replacing the battery, enter the
BIOS and reset to default settings, or whatever works and the splash
screen will probably disappear.

Whether that would explain the "shortcuts" is doubtful.
