Search will not stop

In XP Pro when I perform a search it will find the same
file over and over and never will stop the search. I have
to press the STOP button for it to stop. Any Ideas what
could be wrong ? I have also reinstalled xp(over old xp)

Tommy, sometimes a reinstall of XP just masks the original problem. You
