scrolling uncontrollably!

Help!! My computer is scrolling uncontrollably on webpages, programs, and
drop down menus.

I've looked everywhere, and I don't know what to do. My mouse is not dirty,
or old, neither is the scroll wheel locked. I've reformatted the hard drive
even, and nothing seems to work.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi,

It's not something crazy like the down arrow on your keyboard is stuck down
is it? :)

Hi, Thanks for replying.

No, I've even taken my keyboard apart-- I've taken my computer apart. I've
put them both back together, and so I'm thinking it's something to do with
software, because the hardware and devices seem to be in working order. Or
maybe it's a driver... I can't find any answers.

same thing here!!
I received a weird email "mail delivery failure notification" from rumania
with no attachements, only open in Outlook preview pane, then it started
scrolling like crazy.
AVG found virus/trojan "ByteVerify" quarantied and removed. but problem
still persist. This is an old trojan thats maybe been renewed to do this, its
a Java applet that can write code into your registry I think.
I'm not an expert and I need help also.

I feel kind of silly, it was only my Logitech MX700 cordless optical mouse,
when the rechargable batteries finally fail this is what happens. The virus I
suspected was only a coincident; man talk about bad timing, I spent almost a
week chasing the wrong thing.

Ditto for me!!! Please help!!!

I can't find any information about this on the internet. It just started happening when I was working on a Microsoft Word document. All of a sudden after working on the document for like 2 hours I tried using keyboard shortcuts like ctrl-b, ctrl-c, ctrl-v and ctrl-s and instead of the expected outcome my document started scrolling and resizing itself. Then I noticed that my Outlook Web Access account from work that was running in the background was going wacko. I then tried loading up a browser and my homepage just starting scrolling up and down like mad!

When I try to see what's running in the task manager it's no use b/c all of the active items are scrolling up and down (and side to side) and going nuts as well!!!

I know it's not a battery issue b/c when I reboot in safe mode everything works fine. I even tried rebooting in Safe Mode with network support and loaded a webpage and it also worked fine. I just ran a full virus scan using the latest virus definitions from Trend Micro (I am even using the latest version of their software -2006).

I don't know what to do!!!
