screen resolution

my screen turned int o lots of colored squares and i had
to close lid to turn it off, i cant reset resolution and
theres no system restore previous to the date this
happened, when i hit settings it tells me graphics card
is for older windows versions, whats gone wrong

Your video card went bad.
