Installing scanners can be picky. You need to follow the instructions
carefully when installing the software, drivers and when connecting the
scanner. Consult your manual and the manufacturer's website for
troubleshooting ideas.

All I can sugest is that you uninstall the scanner
entire and re-install it, make sure you only have one
copy of the driver/s for the scanner, you may have
unloaded the .dll with winspeedup or someother program
like it to make your os run faster, sorry cannot be of
