free scaner software needed

Hi all

I was given a printer/scaner reciently but no printer/scaner cd which must
of had all the drivers and software that I need today, Its an Lexmark 6200
series model - P6210. I have phoned and emailed Lexmark but they say there
is no longer a replacement cd to get, I can download the drivers for the
printing and scaning side but I have no scaning software I realy need it
before I will touch the scaner, I googled and found this site:

I dont know if this software is any good - I need it to be free and not a
trial with most of the options like placing a square around the part that
will get scaned, the scaner will be used for scaning pictures, paper
documents and photoes.

I need a good recomendation for software that is free and has most of the
options that full scaning packages have.
The pc it will be used on will be XP media center edition 2005 w/ sp3

I hope that when I first install the driver then the free software that it
wont have any driver problems with the free software. If it dose I'll be
back here.

OK thank you but what other free programs are out there that are good?

There are one or two programs out there I think, but I don't know if they
are good or bad. I find XP scanner software is reasonable and easy to use.
If you need to edit the results, just use the GIMP or paint.NET . both are
free and powerful
