Scanner problems

I use Windows XP Home Addition with a Sony VAIO computer.
My Printer/Copier/Scanner is a Hewlett Packard Officejet
(model 630).
I am having problems scanning a picture from the scanner
to the computer. When I click on Scanners and Cameras in
the computer a menu is brought up asking me to pick from
of list of scanners and cameras. When I choose Hewlitt
Packard the only thing displayed is digital cameras. How
do I get my scanner to comunicate with the computer or
vice versa?

I use the PictureIt program to scan my picture to my HP 3-in-1...Maybe a picture program will help...I can't use my scanner in Wxp either without the PictureIt program.
