Scanner problems

I have Windows XP Home Edition...HP 6350C scanner. XP will not recognize this scanner even after I download Hewlett Packard's drivers for XP. Any help or advice from anyone. Or should I just buy a new scanner???

If installing the XP driver doesnt help. Then you can
probably contact the HP support and ask for their advice
before buying a new scanner...
