Scanner Help!

I have a Hewlett Packard scanner that won't work with Windows XP. I'm so frustrated with this I've shoved the scanner under my bed. I'd love to be able to use it to send my family pictures of my daughter, but that just doesn't seem possible. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated

What specific HP scanner is it? There are workarounds with many of these old
scanners.
