Scanner and Camera wizard problem

When I use Scanner and Camera wizard to scan my 4 x 6 photos, sometimes it
reduces the photo size that is stored ( i.e. it is less than 4 x 6 ) and when
I try to print it using Photo Printing Wizard, it does not print properly and
the printed copy is not like the original digital file. Parts of the photo
get cut off. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

You scan a 4 x 6 photo. You get a 4 x 6 photo file, nothing more and nothing
less. If you print 4 x 6 you will print the entire photo. However, if you
print anything else than 4 x 6, say 5 x 7 or 8 x 10, 4 x 6 cannot be fitted
into these. Something has to give. The software crops the 4 x 6 to fit the
new aspect ratio you selected.
If you scan a 4 x 6 and you print this at 4 x 6 let us know what the problem
is. But if you scan a 4 x 6 and print a different at a different size you
can expect this cropping.

Sometimes there is not enough contrast
in an image for the scanner to correctly
detect the edges. Try the following method...

With your Scanner and Camera Wizard
open...click the preview button...

Now you will see the image that is to be
scanned and you can drag the handles if
necessary to adjust the area to be scanned.

Also if you use the Photo Printing Wizard...
to print the images...you will notice the
template that prints 2 - 4x6 images per
page only *Crops* it does not *Rotate*.

This means if you have an image that is
in portrait orientation and you wish to print
an image in landscape orientation...the
top and bottom will be cropped. You can
visually see this cropping in the preview
window.

Also, if an image is not the correct aspect
ratio for the size you are printing you will
get unwanted cropping.

I am scanning a 4 x 6 photo and NOT getting a 4 x 6 digital photo sometimes -
that's why I posted this problem. What you say should logically happen but it
is not happening!

The "sometimes it is not happening" is a little bit difficult for us to
figure out. John Inzer offered some suggestions.
Let me offer another one. If the picture is 4 x 6, the aspect ratio is
width/height. So divide 4/6 = 0.66. After you scan, look at the pixel
dimensions of the file and divide the pixel dimensions, width/height. Do you
get 0.66? If not, obviously it is not 4 x 6.
Maybe you are inverting 4 x 6 to 6 x 4 (portrait vs landscape), portrait
being 4 x 6 and landscape being 6 x 4.
If you do this, obviously 4 x 6 cannot fit into 6 x 4.
