Saving WMF as JPG Changes Background to Black

How can I save a wmf clipart image as a jpg without the background changing
to black?

When I insert a wmf clipart into a slide and save it as a .jpg, the result
has a black background. When I insert the jpg into a slide and make the
black transparent, the quality of the picture is terrible.

I can't guarantee this works. Insert the emf.
Select the emf, click Ctrl-C to copy.
Click Edit > Paste Special.
Select Bitmap. Is the background white now?
If yes, repeat the steps, but this time, paste it as a jpeg.

(The above post was suppose to be wmf, not emf. Apology for the mistake)
Here's another way if the above doesn't work.
Insert the wmf, insert a rectangle AutoShape that covers the wmf completely
(same height same width).
Double click on the rectangle.
Set the Fill Color to white, Line Color to No Line.
Right click on the rectangle, click Order > Send to Back.
Adjust the rectangle so that it is exactly on top of the picture.
Select both the picture and rectangle.
Right click and select Grouping > Group.
Do a Ctrl - C to copy.
Click Edit > Paste Special.
Select JPEG.
