Saving document

I am trying to save my document and I keep getting the message that Microsoft
word has experienced a problem and has to shut down. I have updated and no
change. I am using Windows XP

uninstall the microsoft office, and install a new one, don't upgrade. What
upgrade does is just to add new program files not included in the older
version, it does not correct errors generated by the previous version of the
program.
