Same Printer - Multiple Printing Preferences

I have 5 computers and a print server (with a HP DJ940C on it) on my network.
I am trying to keep printing costs down by defaulting the printer to b&w
draft mode. I want to easily print pictures and colored presentations with
it without having to go through multiple perameter changes in the printing
preferences. Back when I was running 98-SP2 I created several printers each
with their own printing preferences and named them something different. All
I needed to do was select the correct printer and I would get the printout I
wanted. Now in XP-Pro I have only one printing preference set up used on all
the differently named printers. If I change printing preferences in one
printer I changed it in all named printers.

It appears that XP-Pro assigns printing preferences to ports, not printer
names. Is this true? Is there any way to get around this?

By the way I am using the driver from the HP site not the cr#%%& driver that
MS put out on the XP-Pro CD.

It is not that I want to switch users, I want to switch printing preferences
between "b&w draft" and "color picture"

Create a 'BWprint' ID and use Fast User Switching.
