"Safe Mode" and the Windows Login

Since last night, I get the message
"Loading your Settings..." and after three seconds "Logging off" and I am
back to the login screen. This occured after hhhmmm.... msconfig? in Run and clicked Safe Mode restart. I do not have a recovery disk as I bought my computer on sale. My computer did not come with any disks. I do however have a Compaq Recovery CD (my computer is a HP). I have tried reloading in every mode and it always takes me back to Safe Mode. Any help you can give me would not only be appreciated, but relieving. *Tchuss*

Just a quick thought; in msconfig after you select normal start up on the
boot.ini tab make sure Safeboot is not selected under boot options.
