PC always logs on to Safe Mode

Hi Gurus,

Please kindly help me with my scenario, this is very urgent.

My PC is always going into Safe Mode after I restart. Since I don't have the
admin password, I cannot login to the PC. How to bypass this Safe Mode and
directly go to Normal mode.....

I think what has happened is I was logged on to the PC with the other
account and I had changed the msconfig utility, under BOOT.INI tab and
selected /SAFEMODE. Now I cannot login to Safe mode with that account and I
don't have admin account password....

Please let me know is there any way I can log back in Normal mode.

Thanks
dd

Whip out your favorite distro on CD (for this I would just run with
Mandrake) and run the LiveCD at boot and manually edit the boot.ini file.

IIRC, hitting the [F7] key (or is it [F9]?) at the right time during
the boot process will bring up a boot menu, allowing you to choose
between various boot options.

Try this first actually...

Problems with boot.ini:

I'm not sure why I didn't start there as that's the easiest and best and
usually does the trick. Sorry about that.

Hi Galen,

Thanks again for trying to help me. But since I am not an advanced user, I
guess I am having a tough time following you. Please let me know if there is
an easier way of doing it....

Thanks

That is the way, that is the easiest way. Get out your Windows XP CD. Put it
in the CD tray. Boot computer to CD. Select Recovery Console. You probably
want to run this command in there:

"fixboot C:"

If that doesn't work you can try:

"bootconfig /rebuild"

(Don't type the quotes of course.)

Though the last one might be "bootconfig /rebuild C:" - it has been ages
since I've needed to do that.

It's actually F8.
