Are there any reasons i should worry about security updates to the operating
system, internetnet explorer or office if i am behind a hardware based
firewall.
Thank you,
Chris

Yes, do not assume a firewall of any kind protects you from everything.
Even if that protected the computer from all internet issues (which it
doesn't) there are other ways for malware to get to the computer.
Also, you want the layered security provided by the patches.
For example with Blaster and Sasser a while back.
A patch or a firewall protected the computer.
Without the updates and a momentarily failure of the firewall may easily
result in an infected computer.

Generally you should install all Critical Updates.
