When I am using linksys router my windows updates will not work. When I plug direct into sat. modem it works fine. All this is on XP pro. My other client is running windows ME and I have no trouble with windows update.........I have had linksys on the phone 4 times and changed some setting but no luck yet
 
Did they mention to you to open ports for the update to work. I don't know
what they are. Also depending on how old the router is you may need to
update the firm ware. I also have a linksys 8 port and I have no problem
updating. Be sure firewall is down on XPp.
