roaming profile problem

Hi all,

I'm troubleshooting a problem I have with some computers (XP Pro SP1)
in a OU (AD 2000 native mode domain).
The problem is that when the user logs on, before the desktop appears
about 10 min have to go by.

The roaming profile is ok, no corruption evidenceces, no size
problems.
I turned debug on and noticed this:

USERENV(298.454) 12:08:44:747 ProcessGPOs: Forced option changed
policy mode.
USERENV(298.a88) 12:08:46:841 ProcessGPOs: Forced option changed

I believe the load of the roaming profile started at 12:19 and
terminated at 12:26.

Am I wrong or the log says there is a problem with the local group
policy (the computers do not have local policies, only domain
policies) ???
I had a look in the file system and, as a matter of fact, I could not
find the folder c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy.

I opened the gpedit snapin and then the folder magically appeared
(hidden) ....
Is this normal ???

Thanks to anyone who can assist me !
