Does anyone have any idea what is going on here besides a

I am getting this as well, that is why my search turned up
your post...what the heck did we do??? My Explorer has
been crashing & giving me something like "unable to write
memory & giving the address" This all started on my
system in the last 12 hours or so. In that time I have
been downloading on some usenet newsgroups, scanned my
registry & cleaned that, cleaned out junk & temp files,
scanned for spyware, did another registry 1st aid scan,
windowsupdate & I think I had a couple of downloads which
I installed, can't remember. And the one other activity
that when I do it & my system acts up it doesn't surprise
me is... installing & uninstalling software. WHEW I've
been busy, maybe my activities match some of what you were
doing & at least can add to our research. I wish I had an
answer but I just started looking. If I find out I will
post to you here whatever info. big or small I discover.
Okie Dokie? :)
