Right-click has gone awry

Hi,
Running XP Home SP3
Firefox 2.0.0.16 (primary browser)
IE 7.0.5730.11
ZAlarm 7.0.483.000
AVG Free 8.0.138

I started to run CCleaner which I do periodically, and was notified of an
upgrade which I downloaded and installed. I set a Restore point before the
install.

Everything seemed okay with the install and I ran clean ups on Windows,
Applications and the Registry. I have done all three in the past many times
with no problems. I also saved the registry entry backup to my desktop before
the final deletion of the registry changes. I have two such entries on my
desktop now.

Once all the cleanup was done, I right-clicked on a text file I have on my
desktop and the following message appeared,

“Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenienceâ€.

If I right-click on another item immediately after receiving that message,
then the Active Desktop Recovery occurs with this message

“Microsoft Windows has experienced an unexpected error. As a precaution your
active desktop has been turned off. To restore follow these troubleshooting
tips".

I am able to restore using one of the tips.

I used my System Restore point which was before the install of the CCleaner,
but my right-click still does not work and gives the same error messages.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers:

Thanks Joe. Why wouldn't this software be "signed" since the site is "MVPS"

Dunno.. The Nirsoft.net software has plenty of info on its software and
you can email the author at the Feedback link if you need more assurances.
