Running Windows XP Professional. When ever I right click a icon on my
desktop, windows freezes. So much so; that I have to do a hard reboot.
It will let me open Task Manager; in Task manager; nothing unusual
shows. No open programs "Not Responding" and no processes using up
resources.
This problem started after a failed attempt to load Norton Ghost a week
ago. Since than; I'm having various issues; e.g. Windows Installer not
working; My virus program not working and I get a "Run Time" error at
startup for Roxio. The Windows Installer not working is actually the key
issue as I can not uninstall or reinstall programs without it.
I have done the usual virus checks via Malwarebytes and Trend Micro's
online check. No issues.
I have done three system restores with negative results.
I am going to do a restore from a recent backup this weekend. Hopefully
that will fix all these problems.
Just curious what could prevent me from using right click on my desktop
icons. Right click does work as usual within my file manager.
