Ridiculous: Defender won't install definitions, different error co

Every time I try to get Windows Update to install the new Defender
definitions, the installation fails - with a different error code each time!
In fact, when trying to search the codes on Microsoft.com, the search results
come back empty.
What is up with so many people having this problem?!

What is the exact error messªges?


What do you see in the system event logs around the time of the installations.
I believe this stuff is logged in the system event log--scan starts and
ends, definition updates, etc


Please check the event log (Start->Run->Eventvwr.msc) for events from the
service control manager in the system lºg.

There should be an event in for the WinDefend service.


This will give you a list of system events generated by Windows Defender.


Look for yellow-triangle mark or red marks records for those original
detections.
Double-click a record in the right window to open it and see the full detail.


Is your clock and time zone set properly? Also check the correct date.
