Bert,

Its a Medion MT187, I have e-mailed their support people but as yet no
reply. I still have the recovery partition on my HD with the files. My prob
is I have formated the C: drive and reinstalled XP no probs I now want to run
the recovery prog to return computer to its original supplied config. Any
help would be appreciated. Paul....

Bert,
Totally confused by this, I have been on the Medion site and can find no
details of my machine as listed below.
Details taken from Manufacturers plate on back of machine.
MOD PC MT6
TYP MED MT187
SER NO 11687030020269

I would have thought on the Medion site they would have at least had details
of how to run this recovery (useing the recovery data etc pre installed on
the machine) as it would appear to be standard on a lot of their machines
Once again thanks for your help. PAUL....

Hi Paul,

If you have a phone number for them, you may want to give them a call
then.

Bert,

Tried telephoneing Medion put on hold for 20 minutes and eventually gave up
waiting. It would seem that nobody has any knowledge of how this "retten"
program works, so I have decided to format the drive after backing up ALL
information and removing the partitions set by manufacturer to end up with
one larger drive. Then I can re-install XP onto this machine.

Make note that Medion service is not a lot of good and to never purchase one
of their products again.

So once again many thanks for all your help in trying to resolve, much
appreciated.
Regards PAUL....

Bert,

I have this morning (Tues 31.5.05) had an e-mail reply from Medion,
unfortunately too late to resolve my problem.

If anyone is interested I would be more than happy to forward this e-mail
direct to them rather than clutter up this newsgroup with yet another longish
post.

Regards PAUL....

If anyone is interested, I will post my findings
I got reply from Medion, but it was in german, so I will spare yo
this

I noticed 2 things
1) You must start from CD or floppy, so HDD is "accessible", otherwis
You will get a message, that "kaine festplatten vorhanded" - ie no HD
is given
2) maybe You will need to use "fdisk /mbr" command if you recieve tha
harddisc is "shreibgeshutzt" (write protected

This helped for me. If you changed the partition size You can downloa
"hdcopy" trial version and check image size from there. "Retten.exe
is simply self-executable file of this program

PS: the german messages are written from head, so forgive me an
mistakes :wink
