resetting security in access 2.0 to convert a database to access 2

Okay, here is my question, this is a rather complicated situation.

The database I am currently working on was originally created in access 2.0.
The database was opened and had some development done to it in access 97. I
am now attempting to roll the database forward in its design from an access
2.0 database to an access 2000 database.

The problems are as follows:

1. When the database was originally designed, the permissions and all
security were setup in access 2.0. I am not sure how to check the
permissions or the accounts and or groups.

2. When I open the database in access 97 or access 2000 as it is currently
setup, I get the usual error that says that the database needs to be
converted. That is fine and dandy, but I cannot open the database in
exclusive mode to get the conversion done, as I don't have the permission to
do so. I did try and open the database in access 2.0 and it opened no
problem, but I could not add the permission to exclusively open the database
to the current database as I guess I am not the owner of the database or the
tables (a user called Admin is). Howerver, I cannot log into the database as
the user Admin, as I don't see the user and I don't know the password.

3. If there is a way to get around the security so that I can convert the
database to an access 2000 database and have the database open up in access
2000 so that I can convert this database from a simple database to a access
2000 project, I would be glad to hear how it is done.

ITS NOT COMPLICATED. ARE YOU DOING THIS LEGITAMATELY?

YES-> THEN THE PERMISSIONS DO NOT MATTER IF YOU ACCESS THE
DATABASE NORMALLY FROM THE UPDATED SOFTWARE. DO NOT
CONVERT THE DATABASE. ACCESS WILL READ IT IF IT IS IN A
OLD VERSION WITHOUT CONVERSION.. CONVERSIONS ARE ONLY FOR
NON MS PRODUCTS.

NO-> THE PASSWORDS ARE STORED IN FILES, FIND THEM ENTER
THE FILES AND CHANGE THE PASSWORDS TO NONE.

yes, this is legit, as I am working for the company. The database was
originally developed in access as I said. I saw a pasword files
(databasename.ldb or something like that). I really just want to convert it
to access 97 and or access 2000. I see the user names and some funny
characters, which must be the passwords. Where else would they be stored?
What utilities in access 2.0 can I use to reset the passwords to either blank
or something else. I realy really really want to convert as I would like to
roll the database forward to access 2000 so I can setup a project and get the
database to sql server 7 and access 2000 as its front end. Any more help
would be appreciated, such as where I should look to access the passwords and
where I reset the passwords or else, just change the permissions to allow me
to open the database as a single user to do the conversion.

You will not get much help if you arbitrarily start new threads for
existing questions. Stick to the thread you created before. Otherwise,
this leads to confused communications and/or answer-ers wasting their
time :-(

You don't know what you're talking about. The passwords are encrypted
with DES, and the workgroup file (containing the encrypted passwords)
is further encrypted with RC4. The average user has no chance of
editing a workgroup file directly.
