Security permissions to convert the database

Hi,

I have a database which is created in Access 97, when i am trying to open
the same database in the Access 2003. i get an error saying

The Current user account doesn't have permission to convert or enable this
database


and i tried to assign the permissions to the user but i was failed can any
one please help me to set the permissions to convert the database.

This is an known issue in Access2000, however I think it fit your problem.

You need to join the workgroup file that the mdb file was secured with. Do
you have it? It will have a mdw extension.

Hi Charles,

Thankyou very much for the information. But the problem here is i am not the
owner of the database and i dont have the password for the user who created
it. is there any other way to solve the issue.

there are three methods as per the article,

If you are a member of the Admins group, change the permissions on the
system tables to include Administe
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a user named Admin who is belonging to Administer Group but i am
not able to convert the database or open the database in Access 2003.

Have the database owner convert the file
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As i am not the owner of the database or doesn't have the database creator
password.


Import the objects into a new database file. This method is the least
desirable because it will remove the existing security settings from the fil
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As there will be lots of security issue i am not intrested to go for this
idea.


can you please suggest me from the above two methods only, or guide me in
any other way please.

Hi Raghuram,
Hmm... , in this case, I recommend that you request a user for you to the
database owner.
If you can't get the permission, you may try the third method and then
secure it later.
