It says I have 2 unread messages...but I don't! This
does not chance when I reboot or log off...

Thanks!

S

hover the mouse over the bit where it says the 2 unread
messages, this will tell you what e-mail account it's on,
check all of you e-mail accounts, even the ones you don't
use, if you have e-mails in any of the accounts ypu have
entered into win xp then it will show up there.
If that doesn't work then got to the user accounts page,
click on yur usename and click manage my passwords,
delete all your hotmail ones and the e-mail ting will go
away.

Hi Stephanie,

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To remove an account or to change the count manually Go to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

Use TweakUI - one of the XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP
SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP!, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its Repair - Unread Mail count allows you to reset the figure; it Logon
- Unread Mail allows you to turn the matter off.
