Require help restoring emails

Hi there

I recently had to run a restore CD on my friends laptop and we've lost
her emails. She's running Outlook 2003 and before i ran the recover
CD, i backed up her application data folder, my documents and desktop.

I dont use outlook 2003 myself, i used to to use 2000 and i know that
everything is usually stored in the App data folder. The trouble is,
i'm reading everywhere on the net about restoring emails and it all
mentions there being an outlook.pst or archieve.pst..She doesn't have
one of these and i ran a search for pst files on her HDD before i
reinstalled and all i found where two old backups she had made early
in 2008.

Last night we reinstalled 2003 back on her laptop and downloaded her
most recent mail. However after closing outlook at doing a run for pst
files. We found outlook had not made any..Where is outlook storing her
most recent emails? there one's that are in her inbox?

If anyone can help, it would be REALLY appreciated
many thanks
james

pst files are hidden files. You need to enable hidden files in your
search...

There is nore than one Application Data folder. One is
%userprofile%\Application Data and the other is %userprofile%\Local
Settings\Application Data. It is the latter that usually houses the Outlook
PST. If you didn't include that one, then you no longer have the PST after
using the recovery CD.

Then you have not enabled viewing hidden files and folders because Outlook
could not run without a PST.
