I have a child DC that can not replicate via RPC. I know that you change the
replication to process via IP. I was wondering if there are any Documents or
best practices for this.

DESPERATE!!!!!!!!!

The information on the above is actually misleading.

Practically all AD replication is done with RPC (excluding
only the SMTP which almost no one uses and which
required separate domains....)

Here's the deal: Microsoft tends to call "INTERsite" replication
"IP" and tends to call "INTRAsite" replication "RPC" but they
both use RPC running on IP.

Do you have any firewalls between the two DCs?
(You might need a VPN or to open certain ports between
the two DCs that can cross the firewall.)

If you are getting spurious RPC errors, then a "Repair Install"
from the original CDROM might be in order for the DC (or
both DCs.)

It is also possible you have a DNS problem or hardware issue.
