Removing a partition and regaining Disk space

Help!

Can I remove a partition of a dual boot situation of XP and 98SE? I would
like to remove 98SE (I love the OS, but I guess it is the time to move on . .
Vista is here). And regain back the diskspace?

Thanks

If you installed Windows XP after Windows 98, as is the usually
recommended way of doing Microsoft dual boot setups, you probably cannot
remove the Windows 98 partition because it is designated as the active
partition and it contains the files necessary to boot Windows XP. You
could however remove all the Windows 98 stuff on it and use the
partition for storage if you want. You can remove everything on the
partition *except* the following files in the root of the partition (c:\):

boot.ini
ntdetect.com
ntldr
ntbootdd.sys

Note that ntbootdd.sys may or may not be present.
