Remove dual boot up screen

The son of a friend installed Mandrake Linux on her machine in addition to
Windows XP home addition. When the PC boots up, a screen appears that give
you a few seconds to choose Linux, Windows, failsafe, or floppy. I have no
idea what the failsafe option does. If you do nothing, Linux boots up.
When I choose Windows, it boots up ok but I do not get the option of using
F2 to get to the set up option. How can I get rid of this dual boot up
screen and make Windows boot up normally? I know it's probably a very
simple operation, but I must be having a brain freeze right now since I just
can't figure out where this first screen is coming from. Thanks!

The correct key is F8 not F2.
Press F8 immediately after selecting Windows from the GRUB
bootloader (linux). F8 needs to be pressed while NTDETECT
is running and displaying the text mode progress bar.

Thanks! I told you it was probably an easy answer - but not for me!
Appreciate the quick response!

Once I can get to the set up screen, will I be able to disable the boot up
option window? I can seem to find where the Linux files are stored on the
hard drive. I would like to avoid a total XP reinstall if at all possible,
but will do so if necessary. I would really like to remove the Linux
instead and eliminate the start up screen with the options.
