Removable Storage problem, MCE 2005

I have a Gateway 610x media center computer. it has 4 built in card
readers and has been running media center 2004. i just upgraded media
center 2005 and now none of my removable storage devices work (my ipod,
usb flash drive, card readers...) These drives show up in disk
management, i can see the capacity and all that good stuff, but the
drives do not have a drive letter. I have tried to format my usb flash
drive in Disk Management, but it tells me "the volume is not enabled,
please restart to enable it", which does not work. The exception to
this problem is my USB external hard drive, which is working fine (this
was plugged in during the installation of MCE 2005).

Another weird thing is that under Disk Management I am able to assign
these drives to a drive letter. These drive letters do not stay if i
reboot, and it does not make them appear in my computer....BUT when i
gave my ipod a drive letter, all of a sudden iTunes recognized it and i
could sync my ipod.

so my removable storage is like half working and it is driving me nuts
trying to figure this out...any help is appreciated

thanks
matt

Have you tried updating the drivers for each of the devices? If it's a new
version of MCE then it may well have new drivers for removeable storage. Have
you tried right clicking on 'My Computer', Properties, Hardware, Device
Manager, then finding the hardware under the Universal Serial Bus list, right
clicking on each and pressing update driver?

Good luck, let me know if it works.

Sound to me like the daemon tools problem:
