Removable Storage Not Running

I just purchase a Attache USB 2.0 Flash Drive and I tried to backup data and
I got an error message saying Removable Storage Not Running. Backup utility
can not connect to the removable storage service. Exit and start removable
service using the system services function of the management console. What
the heck does this mean. There are not links to guide me. Help.

1.Right click My Computer/Manage
2.In the compuer management console expand Services & applications
3. Click Services scroll down to removable storage
4. Doubleclick on removable storage , click the start button ,and set start up type to automatic
